SF Bay Area

The Bay Area is where the third wave first organised itself as an identity. Blue Bottle, Ritual, Sightglass, Four Barrel — the SF roasters set conventions that the rest of the country borrowed and rebranded. The scene has since spread out: Oakland's Temescal and Uptown corridors, Berkeley's Fourth Street, and a chain of well-loved spots down the Peninsula and into the South Bay. The density is high enough that you can walk a mile in almost any urban Bay neighborhood and find at least one shop worth a stop.
